BITSATBirla Institute of Technology and Science, also referred to as BITS Pilani is a private university located in Pilani, Rajasthan, India. The Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. BITS Pilani consists of 15 academic departments with a focus on education in engineering and the sciences. The primary motive of BITS is to ‘train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information’.

The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G.D.Birla – an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation late Mr. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi). It was started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing. This university was christened as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani. Now it has campuses in Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai.

Programmes Offered at BITS, Pilani – Pilani Campus:Birla Institute of Technology and Science admission test (BITSAT) is a computer related Online Test conducted by BITS. The test carried out for the admission to every Integrated First Degree courses of BITS Pilani, BITS Hyderabad and BITS Goa campus of the deemed university. It is a 3 hour test for candidates on computers at dedicated centers in various cities and Dubai campus.

Eligibility

For admission to all the Integrated First Degree Programmes except B.Pharm : Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and adequate proficiency in English.

For admission to B.Pharm. : Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and adequate proficiency in English. However candidates with PCM may also apply for Pharmacy program.

Admission to all the programmes is subject to the conditions given below:

The candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) in 12th class examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.

Only Students who are appearing for 12th class examination in the respective year or who have passed the 12th class examination in the previous year are eligible to appear for BITSAT. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed.

The Institute considers only the latest performance through a public examination for admission. If the results of the latest examination are not available within the due date for submission of application, the candidate will not be considered even if there are some earlier performances of 12th class or its equivalent or any higher examination available with him/her. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed.
